The Mopar universe is a box of surprises, always bringing something unique for the brand's enthusiasts. In the United States, we have the legendary Mopar Nationals, an event that's already on my bucket list. But, believe it or not, Brazil also has its Mopar gems: the Mopar Nationals Brazil in São Paulo; the Mopar Centro-Oeste in Brasília, my backyard; and finally, the newly arrived and much-loved Mopar UAI.
If you didn’t know, folks from Minas Gerais love imitating those from Goiás. They've tried to steal the UAI, the cheese bread, and even the card game truco (spoiler: they failed). Just for revenge, we took their title as the biggest pequi lovers. Because, let's face it, when it comes to pequi, everyone thinks Goiás is king. But in reality, Minas Gerais takes the trophy. Go figure...
Now, back to UAI. This iconic expression, loved by both Greeks people from Minas and Goiás, couldn’t be a better name for an event that breathes Mopar. I had the pleasure of attending the 2023 edition, and let me tell you—it was sensational!
The Event
Organized by the Chrysler Clube Minas Gerais, Mopar UAI lasts an entire day. And what a day it is! The format is so good it makes you want to tattoo it on your arm. Here’s how it works: you pay an entry fee that includes access to the venue, food, and unlimited drinks. No curious onlookers—only people who know their stuff. The location? A racetrack in Belo Horizonte. I found it simply perfect. An event tailor-made for those with gasoline in their veins.
The Car of the Moment
My choice for the trip was a 1973 Plymouth Cuda. With its V8 340 engine, it's by far my most fuel-efficient classic V8. There's just one small issue: the trunk is a joke. It barely fits my tools. But other than that, it's impeccable on the road.
The Journey
It was just 1,000 km from Goiânia to Belo Horizonte—piece of cake, right? I chose to pass through Araxá because I like the city (who doesn’t?). However, the road didn’t cooperate. With so many patches, the Cuda’s hood slammed against the fenders and cracked the paint. Disappointing. We arrived in BH at night, but the warm welcome made up for it, complete with amazing cars and a healthy dose of storytelling. Thanks to Bazolli and his crew!
The Big Day
The event was everything we dreamed of and more: friends, car exhibits, drag races, and burnouts. Only Mopar enthusiasts were there—no curious onlookers snapping selfies. Speaking of drag races, my friend Marcelo Ração challenged me with his Dakota. I probably should have declined, given how far I’d traveled and how much I deserved to rest. But you know me... open track, open heart. And, defying the odds, this time I won!
Approved with Flying Colors
For some strange reason, I was awarded a standout prize. I’d like to thank all the organizers. For me, everything was flawless: the road, the track, and the assurance of meeting new friends just as passionate about cars as I am.
Mopar UAI is more than approved! For those who want to participate, the good news is that the event is biennial. In 2025, the date is already set: April 19th (Saturday). And yes, Friday is a holiday, so no one will have to skip work. No excuses, okay? As far as I know, only those who make reservations in advance can attend, so don’t show up at the door expecting to get in. With that said: LET’S GO!!!

The return trip was super smooth. We left early and were back home by night. Oh, and for those who still don’t know what UAI means, here’s the universal translation: Unconditional Love. That’s why we say it so much!
